THE EDGE UPDATE: interning opportunities & ideas

I have been getting very involved with the marketing department of Gannon and really enjoy all of the parts that I have been exposed to. I officially finished branding the edge and an=m now scheduling when the posts will be posted to social media.

Along with the branding experience, I have been networking with my recourse and worked out an internship with the marketing communication department to manage and design the social media/marketing for our athletic department. For this internship, I will prepare a pitch with a marketing plan that contains the mutual benefits of having me run the social media of certain sports. Getting the approval of the Athletic Director, head of media relations, head coaches, and other mentors/advisors will be the goal. Hopefully, this will come into existence so that I can become more involved with this campus and more involved in the field of work I would like to enter.

With that idea being in the works I would also like to start a talk show or a gossip column under Edge. I am a big fan of Wendy Williams and also Sex and the City. They are my biggest influences on these ideas solely because I enjoy the personality brought into this form of communication. I am super involved with creating the professional presence of myself but I don’t want to lose sight of my opinions and my values as a person. Wither the topics involve big news or not, I would love to produce personality-based content to truly create a presence that reflects who I am as a professional but also as a person.
